Thw Rocco Effect - Make People Matter

It is more blessed to give than to receive. - Jesus

The Rocco Effect - Make People Matter

Why do we give gifts? It's because it feels good.  If you want to create a strong bond with others, make them feel good.  An easy way to make others feel good it to ask for advice.  Advice is a gift we can all give.  Watch how quickly people light up when you ask genially for advice.

I was out with friends.  I noticed one girl wasn't feeling good and staying out of the conversation.  So I asked her for relationship advice 'I'm rubbish with girls.  Can you help me out?'  Suddenly she was in her element, offering advice and feeling great as I took note and learned from her.  By offering her gift of knowledge to me, her life was given meaning.

How do you feel when others want your advice?

Task

1. What advice could others offer you?
2. Ask one person for their advice.  Take notes.
3. Notice how they feel whilst giving advice
4. Act on their advice.  Share with them your results.
5. Notice how they feel once you show them your results.
6. Notice how you feel, knowing you gave meaning to their lives.

Bonus - Everything is on loan

Everything is on loan.   Our possessions, our friends, family, even our own lives.  If we're lucky the loan is repaid after we die, but we've all had loans retuned before we where ready or worse, before we were aware it was a loan. Whenever you are in a state of truly loving life remind yourself 'This is all on loan.'  Be grateful and take in all you can, cause one day, memories is all you'll have left.

The Rocco Effect - Values

It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are. ― Roy Disney Values are the reason why somethings make us happy and others make us sad. If you value the truth, even a white lie, in the hopes to make you feel better, would hurt you. If you value family, only for them to pick friends over you, that would hurt. Often we feel this way, without knowing why and this leads to a lot of stress and questioning ourselves.  Once you know your values, knowing what choice to make is a lot easier. You choose whatever choice is closest to your highest values. Even in failure, you can rest happy, knowing that you made the right choice. Comic Video Reading Task 1.
