The Rocco Effect - Take Responsibility

When a team takes ownership of its problems, the problem gets solved. It is true on the battlefield, it is true in business, and it is true in life - Jocko Wilink

We often play the blame game when we notice a problem. Passing the blame, (and as an extension the responsibility for solving it) to someone else. This blame game might give you a small boost of 'I'm better than them' happiness, but it solves nothing, if anything it just gives you an added problem of someone liking you less.

Why prolong the problem playing the blame game? Don't. Solve it yourself. you get the direct benefit of no longer having a problem, but you also get added benefits. We all know the uncle Ben phrase to Spiderman - With great power comes great responsibility. The opposite is also true, as we take on more responsibilities we become more powerful. Responsibility is just another word for problem solver. Next time you see a problem, someone else caused see it as an opportunity for you to become more powerful yourself.

Bonus - Everything is on loan

Everything is on loan.   Our possessions, our friends, family, even our own lives.  If we're lucky the loan is repaid after we die, but we've all had loans retuned before we where ready or worse, before we were aware it was a loan. Whenever you are in a state of truly loving life remind yourself 'This is all on loan.'  Be grateful and take in all you can, cause one day, memories is all you'll have left.

The Rocco Effect - Values

It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are. ― Roy Disney Values are the reason why somethings make us happy and others make us sad. If you value the truth, even a white lie, in the hopes to make you feel better, would hurt you. If you value family, only for them to pick friends over you, that would hurt. Often we feel this way, without knowing why and this leads to a lot of stress and questioning ourselves.  Once you know your values, knowing what choice to make is a lot easier. You choose whatever choice is closest to your highest values. Even in failure, you can rest happy, knowing that you made the right choice. Comic Video Reading Task 1.
