The Rocco Effect - Thoughts/Actions

The more we value things outside our control, the less control we have. ā€• Epictetus

Often we want to change things we have no control over (I wish they were ____, I wish they would just do ____, I wish I lived _______). We can have some influence on these things, but we can't guarantee 100% that things will go our way.

We only have control over two things. Our thoughts and our actions. Anything you want to achieve should start with these two things. Our thoughts influence our actions and our actions influence our thoughts. If you want to think better, try changing your actions (eat healthier, exercise, stand up straight with your shoulders back ect), and if you want to change your actions change your thoughts (think of the end result, rather than the process, think of the minimum you can do and do that, think positively). How does narrowing your focus down to two things make you feel?

Ask better questions

Stop asking yourself 'why is my life so bad?', 'Why does no one like me?' 'Why do I fail at everything?' and focusing on all the crap, Instead ask yourself 'How can I make my life better?' 'What can I do to be more attractive?' 'What are some smaller tasks I can easily win at?' these types of questions will allow you to think of solutions.  Focusing on what you can do to improve and actively moving towards a better future (even if it's slow) will lead to a much happier and more meaningful life. Try it for a few days and notice how you feel after answering these questions.

The Rocco Effect - Staying Sane

We panic when there is no structure in our lives or when something breaks our regular structure.  So if your regular structure has changes take time to plan out a new one.  It will take a while to adjust, but once you do you'll start feeling calmer.  Give it a go and notice how much better your life becomes/ Video

The Rocco Effect - Fuck Off!

Do not allow negative thoughts to enter your mind for they are the weeds that strangle confidence. - Bruce Lee How often do you have negative thoughts? I'm guessing more often than you'd like. We wouldn't let others talk to us that way, so why do we allow ourselves? Next time you notice one of these thought reply with 'Fuck off!' and replace it with the opposite though Eg. I'm stupid - Fuck off! - I'm a genius. Both are untrue, but one leads to you feeling rubbish and one leads to you feeling good. Why would you choose to feel rubbish when it's just as easy to feel great?  Comic Task   1. Notice your thoughts   2. Tell bad thoughts to 'Fuck off!'   3. Replace thought with the opposite   4. Start feeling great again   Journal questions   1. What thoughts have you told to 'Fuck off!'?  2. What have you replaced them with?  3. How do these new thoughts make you feel?
