The Rocco Effect - Imagination is worse than reality

We suffer more often in imagination than in reality - Seneca

You made a mistake at work.  What will happen? The boss will shout at me, everyone will laugh at me, I'll get fired, the news will spread and no one will ever want to hire me.  Or will the boss understand everyone makes mistakes, tell you not to worry and to be more careful in the future?  What's the most likely outcome?

Why do we envision the worst outcomes?  Because that's the key to our survival.  Those who planned for the worst, survived.  Those that didn't got bite by a snake and died.

We should plan for the worst.  That's how we lesson the impact, should it happen.  But we should also be aware of the likelihood of it happening.  How wants the worst outcome?  No one.  No one benefits from the worst so we all do our bit to avoid it.  We also all want the best and work hard to achieve it.  With us all working to avoid the bad and to achieve the good how likely is it the worst will happen?  Does it make sense yourself sick with stress over these imagined outcomes?

The Rocco Effect - Values

It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are. ― Roy Disney Values are the reason why somethings make us happy and others make us sad. If you value the truth, even a white lie, in the hopes to make you feel better, would hurt you. If you value family, only for them to pick friends over you, that would hurt. Often we feel this way, without knowing why and this leads to a lot of stress and questioning ourselves.  Once you know your values, knowing what choice to make is a lot easier. You choose whatever choice is closest to your highest values. Even in failure, you can rest happy, knowing that you made the right choice. Comic Video Reading Task 1. The Rocco Effect - Focus

Always remember, your focus determines your reality. - George Lucas Focus is the key to a better life. What we focus on is what we see, what we see determines your reality. To see this for yourself watch the 'selective attention test' on Youtube. Since focus is directly linked to our reality, does it make any sense to focus on the negative? Of course not. It makes sense to focus on solutions you can take to make things better, but that's a positive, don't confuse the two. Should a negative thought creep into your head tell it with as much passion an emotion as you can to 'F**k Off!' and replace it with the exact opposite or a solution. e.g 'I suck, no one will ever love me' changes to 'I'm awesome. Everyone loves me' (both are untrue, but one leads to a much better outcome.), What we focus on will become our reality, stop focusing on being a loser and start focusing on being the hero you where born to be Comic Video Reading Task For the next ...
